Cung Le has managed to escape the public MMA eye for the most part since his tough loss to Scott Smith at December 19th’s StrikeForce event, “Evolution.” Now, the gears of the Cung Le promotional machine are starting to get moving again.
The former san shou and kickboxing star recently did a video interview with StrikeForce, and he touched on several topics:
- He says he’s been training hard since his last fight
- He’s hoping to get a rematch with Scott Smith “ASAP”
- Briefly mentions his appearance on “NCIS: L.A.” with LL Cool J
- Gives his thoughts on the Jake Shields-Dan Henderson scrap
- Says he’ll be back real soon, and may have an announcement at the April 17th StrikeForce event
Cung is one of the most unique and exciting fighters in the sport of MMA. The former StrikeForce Middleweight Champion is also a big draw hear in the San Jose Bay Area, and will likely draw a lot of attention upon his return. Fellow Bay Area MMA star Frank Shamrock told StrikeForce CEO Scott Coker that he wants Le once again. “Last time I talked to Frank, he was asking me if he should fight Cung,” Coker told MMAJunkie. When Le and Shamrock fought each other at “Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Le” in March 2008, Le broke Shamrock’s arm with a brutal kick on his way to winning the Strikeforce Middleweight belt. Shamrock, meanwhile, has also been rumored to be fighting Showtime broadcast colleague Pat Militech in his next fight.
